Originally my family of origin is from the Netherlands, and having lived in Germany with my husband and two children, we made a life altering decision and emigrated to the United States in 2017. Beginning over in a new country, learning a new language and starting a business are just some of the many challenges that we, as a family, worked hard to overcome.
I love teaching, and for 15 years I worked as a school teacher. In the midst of a very stressful period in my life I made the conscious choice to learn more about a holistic way of living. Healing myself with the ancient techniques that come with Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation worked as a ‘wake-up call’ to look at what is really important in life. As I began to study the philosophy of this eastern wisdom that is over 5000 years old I began to question why people know so little of these practices that were healing me. My thought was: “if I would have known this as a child, then I would definitely have had less struggle in school and in life!” I was so inspired by the healing I discovered, that I left a job that I loved, to step into a field that would allow me to teach children and adults how they can use meaningful knowledge to find peace and self acceptance, in relation to others and their environment.
The keyword in my work is “connection”. The practices that I teach, gently remind people, both young and old, of the importance of re-connection with themselves and their needs. In yoga and meditation sessions, ayurvedic massage therapy, breath therapy and even in creative coaching, people are invited to go on the journey of getting to know themselves and their needs on a much deeper level.
