creative coaching
What is creative coaching for children?
Here, you can read what creative coaching in my practice looks like and if your child may benefit from it.
Creative coaching can be beneficial for children who struggle with:
emotional dis-balance because the child is going through a period of change
negative feelings like: anxiety, worry, anger, stress, uncertainty, lack of self-esteem
vague and reoccurring complaints like: belly-ache, headache, sleep problems or restlessness and the medical circuit canβt find anything specific.
Because it is often hard for children to express or describe their feelings in words, children often need a different approach. Safety through being non-judgmental is very important for your child, as well as curating an environment where they can just be themselves. Children process and learn through play and movement, they also learn from stories with characters where they can identify themselves with.
In my sessions the child gets the time to work on a creative assignment. Different materials will be used during the program, like;
colored pencils
watercolor paint
wax crayon
clay
markers
materials from nature
The creative assignments are guided by playful yoga and breathing exercises. The session will be closed with some reflections and relaxing exercises.
One session usually takes 60 to 75 minutes.
It is important for the parent or guardian to join our session during the last 5 minutes. This way the child gets the opportunity to reflect back about what we did in session and talk though the homework. For a creative counseling program, I plan 5 sessions at least, sometimes a 6th session appears to be necessary. As always, in considerate care for your little ones, I will discuss this with the parent or guardian.
